In line with the requirements of public education activities within the scope of the regulations of Istanbul University Observatory Research and Application Centre, ‘A Window to the Sky from Istanbul University: Astronomy Observations and Seminars’ are organised monthly and open to the public. The events, the first of which was held on 24 February 2017, are held on the last Friday of each month and are announced separately on the website of our centre.
Each event starts at 19:00 pm with seminars and ends at 22:30 pm with observations after dark.
The main purpose of these events can be summarised as follows:
- To raise awareness in society about Astronomy and Space issues. Bringing families and their children together in a fun educational environment.
- To share with our society the positive, planned use of the investments made in our Center in the field of Astronomy and Space Sciences.

Events in Astronomy and Space Science are open to everyone.
Events are organised every weekday. On weekends, events can be organised for private groups only.
Only two sessions (groups) will be accepted per day. Start times of the sessions
10:00- 11:00 before noon
13:30-14:30 in the afternoon
between 13:30-14:30 in the afternoon. Session start times can be adjusted within the given intervals according to the transport conditions of the schools.
A group of maximum 60 people can be accepted in each session. When the number of participants is between 30-60, the group will be divided into two, and the groups will alternate activities in the Historical Dome and Planetarium.
